Ionela Loaies was born in Comanesti, Romania, on February 1, 1979.

 

Her father, Ion, is a miner & her mother, Elena, works in a furniture factory.

 

Loaies began gymnastics when she was 6 in Onesti.

 

Her favorite events are bars & floor.

 

She most admires Nadia Comaneci, Gina Gogean & Lavinia Milosovici.

 

In her free time, Loaies enjoys reading detective books, watching TV, listening to music & playing electronic games.

Ionela Loaies was named after both her parents. She was not one of the leading gymnasts of the Romanian National team but nonetheless, was a key member who contributed to team bronze at the 1996 Olympic Games.

In her free time Ionela enjoys reading detective books, watching TV, listening to music & playing electronic games. She adores Michael Jackson and actor Steven Segal. Her favorite subject in school is English and her favorite place visited is Chicago.

After the Atlanta Olympic games, Loaies retired at aged 17 and went to become a coach at ARGO Gymnastics in Glenwood, Illinois, USA.
